(no subject)

I will never understand why gossip/entertainment publications put people's ages in articles that have nothing whatsoever to do with how old they are. Birthday list? Yes, ages are fine. Someone's making a new movie and you're going to interview them? Me knowing they're forty-three or sixty won't change much.

*sigh* I've been biting my lips again. Better this time...no bleeding. But it's driving me a bit batty, because it isn't a habit I can break. I do it in my sleep or just all of a sudden realized I'm doing it. *Bah*. At least I have lots of lip balm to help out after.

Got this door stop alarm for the girls' room. Hopefully, it will do the trick. I plan to half-close the door, so she *has* to move it to get out of the room and wedge it in. Luckily, Sam usually doesn't get up in the middle of the night, and I'll show her how to disarm it. When it gets here in the next couple days. :)

Really like the New Bruno Mars song. Sam loves it and can't wait for the new album. :)

It *really* sounds like a lost Police song.

T'giving dinner was delicious. The lasagna was truly amazing. It was so good I forgot I was the one who made it. The pecan tart was delicious, though the filling was a little runny. I'll have to adjust that.

Maya Beiser's version of Kashmir is drop dead gorgeous.

A beautiful answer to a hideous problem.

Sam and I were talking about Barbie and how I very carefully picked out the Barbies she had at the beginning (don't know why, they all end up naked and often with bad hair cuts...) and I realized that Barbie is much less of a problem now, because it isn't *just* Barbie out there any longer. There are a gazillion dolls of her height to pick from, so she isn't the only "normal". Cool.

Oooh! I hadn't heard that version of Kashmir before. Thanks!

And the "related videos" let me to this version

That alarm says it's 120 decibles. A handy dandy chart online says that's about the loudness of a rock concert, and 125 db is where noise is physically painful. Hopefully she won't have to set it off more than once to learn. :(

Great list of links and yeah, I feel like Bruno Mars is *totally* channeling the Police.

She's going to wake you up *less* by setting off a noise like that?

Wouldn't have worked for us 8-)

Nonono. She's been getting up before anyone else, coming downstairs and doing many things she's not supposed to do. Mostly in my studio. And there's no way to keep her in bed with duct tape. There's also no way to close off downstairs. So, we're getting an alarm to deter her from leaving the room. It's either that or she sleeps next to my side of the bed till she's thirty. I'm really hoping this works. :)

They really really need to come up with duct tape that does that, yes...

Interesting alarm. My Mom had one that looked like an ice cream cone but dark walnut over metal that if it tipped over it would shriek. I wonder if you could find one of those? It was probably made back in 1960 something though...

I just read the entire land mine detector discussion. Bwee. :)

I love the new Bruno Mars song, too. I read in an article somewhere, Rolling Stones or Spin or whatever, that the producer (which I think was Mark Ronson) said that same thing about it, that it sounds like The Police. The context of his quote was that this is how he reacted to what Bruno brought him and presented in the studio.

And I just can't hear it. It's like I'm color-blind to it. I think I hear what those of you who have your full range of hearing appreciation left hear, but I don't hear The Police myself. :)

Yup - for sure the early Police beat on 1 & 3.

I have never understood your problem with Barbie's proportions - nobody on this planet is as flat chested as me; I was born tall & skinny.

I had the original dark haired pony tailed Barbie in 1959 or 58 or whenever the heck it was & never expected to grow up to be like her.

The cool thing about Barbie was she was a teen age fashion model. It was fun to have a doll you could play with that didn't have to be your kid. Prior to her all dolls were either babies or toddlers. She had real clothes, and could go on dates and even get married. LOL - of course I couldn't afford the $5 dollar wedding gown. I guess she & Ken must have gotten married at City Hall in my version. 8^)
