Every now and then, I do an LJ haiku. This time, it actually makes sense. :)

I never did do an update wrt Sammy's peanut plants, did I? They grew *beautifully*. We bought some potting soil and self-watering pots (the kind where you pour the water into the bottom, not the kind with a fancy system), and when we went to pot them, found that one of the peanut cups had been too damp and succumbed to mold. But, the other one survived the repotting and is now thriving. It still lives on my windowsill, 'cause that still gets the best light *and* Sam can visit the plant without me worrying about her being too affectionate and killing the poor thing. (This is why most pets have legs, so they can leave when a kid is overly affectionate. This is *also* why cats have claws. *grin*) So, we lost one, but she wasn't too bummed because the other is doing so well. Yay. :)

My biggest (and pretty much only) problem with Paperback Swap is the lack of blurbage about the books. So, when I'm interested in a book that doesn't have enough info, I plug the title into the search box in Firefox. But, the Amazon search engine is a bit overzealous, and includes every bloody thing possible, from books to housewares to music, etc. If I was using the search box on the site itself, I could specify books, but that would add to the hassle. *So* anyway, I was thinking about it and, on a lark, tossed the ISBN into the box. And it *works*. Goes right to the book's entry, no fuss, no muss.
I love figuring out stuff like this. :)

Sam's a Tori Amos fan. She can sing along with many of her songs, and requests Fade to Red nearly as often as she requests The Laurie Berkner dvd. I just find that nifty.

Updated the look of my journal. I *really* like it. (That's a duh, isn't it?) Jeff's not so hot on the background, but it isn't *his* journal, now is it? *Grin*

The warranty on my right arm has gone. *sigh* I will *really* miss it. Perhaps I can have a cyborg arm installed.
Jeeze, I wonder what the co-pay on that would be.

I've just had a marvelous idea.
Come back! It's not scary. Really. It's a *good* idea.
Okay, so. I have this habit of buying tasty beverages but forgetting to refrigerate them till I actually feel like drinking one. So, I put a tasty beverage in the freezer and, roughly seven times out of ten, promptly forget about it. Sometimes I remember before the contents leave the bottle, and sometimes I don't. So, from now on, I'm going to put my tasty beverage in a big zip-top bag, and *then* put it in the freezer. That way, if I do forget beyond the bad point, the cleanup is *easy*.

Just fell asleep at the keyboard. (And I went to bed last night too! Well, maybe not legally at night, but it was dark.) Gonna see if I can talk the kid into a nap. If not, I'll talk her into playing with her thousands of toys in her room while *I* have a nap. So there. ;)

Your background is cool. I like it.
