Started sometime Thursday

One of Sam's newest things is "Borrowing". Not the usual preschooler borrowing (which she also does...that's why going into her room is so much fun...I find so many things I've lost), but asking if she can borrow something. She's not completely clear on the concept...she does return things she borrows (sometimes *without* needing to be reminded) but she also asks if she can borrow a chip or some water.
She wanted to go into a part of the living room she usually isn't allowed in while I'm at the computer (because I can't see her) and said "Mama, can I borrow going over dere an' get sometin' for my picnic?"
~~~
hlynna left this morning...we had a very good vist and I'm bummed about it being over. But at least I know she'll have to come back, so we can go to the Smithsonian. *Grin*
~~~
Sam's still trying to decide if she wants to go to the Children's Museum or the zoo for her birthday. (Now that it's March, I've shown her the square with her birthday in it on the calendar and we're marking off the days. This may end the daily inquiries of "Mama, is it my happy birthday yet?") I'm just glad that a Chuckie Cheese type place isn't on the list. (I gave her the option...I may have given it slightly faster than the others, but I really did mention it.) She's leaning toward the museum, but likes the idea of bringing a cake to the zoo. I've got a coin all ready for flipping.
~~~
My baby's going to be four at the end of the month. Dude.
There are times when I still feel wholly unprepared for this and I worry that I'm screwing her up beyond help.
But I usually think that I'm doing more good than harm and that she'll continue to thrive.
~~~
There are so many things I want/need to do with my 'puter (who used to be named Nebula but has been renamed DragonFyre upon her rebirth, though I usually just call her Dragon) that I'm constantly starting things, remembering something else I need to do, starting that, coming back to the first thing and so on. It's somewhat annoying. I *think* I'm getting stuff done though.
~~~
I know I've offered/promised mix cds to several people...if you're one of those people (or if you just want one), tell me? 'Cause I know I wrote the list somewhere but it must have been stolen by weasels.
~~~
It's spring...with sunlight and warm air and springy smells! It's not damp (well, it rains here and there, but not constantly, which is quite the turnaround from last year), dark and depressing. It's wonderful. And I should start plotting my garden.
~~~
I've decided to do containers rather than a plot, for a couple reasons. First, if I'm wrong and the area I'm thinking of *doesn't* get all the sun I think it does, I can move the plants easily. Second, if they're higher my knees may not go on strike as quickly. And lastly, since we're planning on spending lots of time out there, they'll be easier to protect from a small person (or two) if they're mobile.
I'm also going to do an herb container that will live by the front step, so I can *use* the herbs without having to go up and down the basement stairs.
~~~
The light is really quite wonderful.

Sometime Friday
I'm finally committed to spending the money needed for new prescription glasses. I've *needed* glasses for years, but have been using the fifteen dollars magnifying ones from Barnes & Nobel ('cause they're Foster Grants and last longer than three months) and they work. But I want to start cross stitching again, and I can't stare at the fabric for too long before my eyes start crossing. (No, not literally...just feeling like they want to so they don't have to keep peering at the tiny squares) And I'll deal with many things before I drop a bunch of money on myself, but not being able to make stuff isn't on that list.
Though, I'm making great progress on the kitchen towels.:)

A Winamp moment
Oingo Boingo - Clowns Of Death into Barry Manilow - Where Or When.
And it *works*!
~~~
About Orson Scott Card. I don't *care* what else he's written. I don't care how much I love those books and how much I've looked forward to more. He has hurt and insulted people I love (me included) and while I'll miss those books, I won't read any more of them.
~~~
Sometime Sunday
I will try hard to *never* write about the weather again! 'Cause as soon as I did (just write about it, not even post it), it rained. A *lot*. With it's very special guest, wind. Apparently, the weather doesn't like me talkin' about it. It could have just sent a note or something.
~~~
I just realized that I've been spraying the chair (which got quite damp during it's winter in the storage shed and is now stinky) with wrinkle releaser, not the stuff that's supposed to make smells go away.
This may be why it's still a stinky chair...
~~~
What a weird note to end on.
