Pink Ribbons & Lou Gehrig: Time to Bury Useless Symbols.

~~~
Seven Awesome things Douglas Adams did besides HHGTTG.
And, tbh, HHGTTG is awesome enough to earn him a place in the awesome hall of fame all by itself.
~~~

As The Mary Sue said: No, J.C. Penney won’t be firing Ellen DeGeneres because you don’t like homosexuals. Go find something else to do with your time.

~~~
I have no idea where my time goes these days. I think someone *else* on the planet is using some of my time...that's the only way my life makes sense. ;)
Thanks for all the links--I'm interested to learn the history of the pink ribbon, kind of horrifying.
I am really enjoying this whole anti-pink rebellion, since I, you know, never liked it to start with!
*hugs JC Penney* They have also dropped their prices and stopped doing the "sale" thing. Go, them!
Heh. The OTHER thing the 1% steal from us! I knew it! ;)
I have to relay this story because your post gives me the opportunity. #2 son was (and is) a complete baseball nut. when he was in about the 6th grade he came up to me and said very seriously:
Mom, don't you think it's weird that they named that disease after Lou Gehrig and then he GOT it?"
I just looked at him, knowing I was going to burst his bubble and said,"sorry Buddy. It was the other way around."
That still makes me laugh.
My attitude on Lou Gehrig - if one person gets a clue about the disease because it has his name, that's a good thing. Most people just call it ALS these days.
Thanks for the links.
I liked Larry from Connecticut's "Ellen is gay?" (But seriously, do we want the Million Moms to stop? what else do you think this group might do? eek!)
Douglas Adams also scripted the video game Bureaucracy (in addition, of course, to co-authoring the HHGTTG game). I actually own a copy but haven't gotten around to playing it yet.
