A technicolor loony.

I've been thinking about movies. This isn't unusual, I often think of movies. I have categories in my mind. There are movies I love that I can (and often do) watch over and over again and there are movies I love that I can only watch once. Sometimes that's because once I know the big mystery, watching it seems kind of pointless (Matchstick Men). And other times it's because the movie is actively painful to experience (Schindler's List).

Which led me to wonder. Do I love Schindler's List? Did I enjoy it? Well. It was an amazing movie. And it was the last movie I saw with my Boompa, so that's going to give it extra love points. Ralph Fiennes delved so deeply into his part that I couldn't watch anything he did for the next two years, 'cause I had a hard time separating actor and role. It was actively painful to watch (like Welcome to the Dollhouse, another love but not rewatchable) but I'm glad I saw it. I don't think I love it. I respect it.

Yeah, when I wake up far too early, I tend to noodle.

In reading the trivia for Schindler's List on IMDB, I found out that Steven Spielberg originally wanted Alan Thicke (probably best known as the dad on Growing Pains)for the role of Oskar Schindler (poor dear had to settle for Liam Neeson). That would have been interesting. Not necessarily *great*, but interesting. Kind of like shoes full of mashed potatoes.
