Mar. 23rd, 2006 07:02 pmI've had an itch to sew for a while (I love hand-sewing and sometimes I just *need* to) but the patchwork pillow-tops just weren't holding my attention. I diverted the need by working on the embroidery picture of the Smithsonian Castle, but that's almost finished (the castle is done and now I'm working on the clouds. If I have enough time, I should be done before the weekend's over). I've wanted to make Sam some dolls for a while and figured now was as good a time as any. I ordered a couple kits, 'cause I haven't made a doll in...quite a while and figure I'll do better with a kit, so I can actually get a quick answer when I either lose my place or mess something up. And once I've got those done, I'm going to go through my craft stuff and find the pattern for the Holly Hobbie dolls I bought last year. Theoretically, I know where it is. Reality is the tricky part.

I'm not exactly sure what Sammy's doing right now...she's running from room to room, picking up small things and building *Something* on the kitchen table. She hasn't asked for help and seems to want it to be a secret without having to *say* it is, so I'm staying over here till either she or the dishwasher is finished. *grin*
Earlier, she was concocting a nifty race track for her rocket with books, dvd cases and the lid of a cookie tin. And they say that kids don't make their own fun.*Grin*
*Update* Ah! She was making various things out of paper, including some airplanes and a kite. She's out on the deck now, trying to make the kite fly.

Fruit salad and some sort of muffin or biscuit for dinner tonight. I haven't quite figured that bit out yet. Probably soup or some noodle thing as well. Yeah, I'm *so* not the "write down what we're having in advance" person. I truly admire those people...but I can't do it. I've tried, it just doesn't work. Hey, no one can say there's a lack of spontaneity in my kitchen. *Grin*

So, when they're getting a reality-type show together, do they draw one person aside and say "Okay, you're gonna be the asshole this season"? Or maybe people really *do* forget the cameras, 'cause I was watching Top Chef on Bravo during lunch and there was one guy who was remarkably assholish. Gotta wonder if he was still so self-righteous when he watched the show.

My head's empty and Jeff's leaving work right about now, so I'm going to get dinner started.
